The book of Psalms is a treasure book for life. Like any treasure there must be the willingness to search (read) to discover the riches contained within the pages. On this page is "a pearl" I discovered for myself from a particular psalm. Using the original King James version I pick ONLY ONE verse (the pearl) from each psalm. Some psalms are easier than others, ranging from 2 verses (Psalm 117) to 176 (Psalm 119). Before reading a psalm, I say a little prayer. "Lord, open your Word to me and open me to your Word.”
“Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble” Psalm 10:12
In a world where wickedness seems to prosper and injustice prevails, it can be tempting to wonder if God sees or if He cares. The psalmist, witnessing the arrogance of the ungodly, cries out for God to arise and act. He pleads for divine intervention, knowing that the Lord is neither blind nor indifferent to the suffering of His people.
The proud believe they are beyond accountability. They deceive themselves into thinking that God will not call them to account (Psalm 10:11), but their day in court is coming. The unrepentant heart, hardened by sin, will face the righteous judgment of the Lord. No wealth, power, or earthly influence can stand against His justice.
But for the humble - those who bow before God in repentance and trust - there is no fear of condemnation (Romans 8:1). The Lord does not forget them. He upholds the meek, strengthens the weary, and draws near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). While the wicked fall into the pit they have dug, the righteous find refuge under the mighty hand of the Lord Jesus.
So, when evil seems unchecked and justice delayed, let us echo the psalmist’s prayer: Arise, O Lord! Lift up Your hand in power and remind us that You are the defender of the humble. The Lord is not absent - He is at work, and His justice will prevail in His perfect time.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, when I see wickedness prosper and the righteous suffer, help me to trust in Your justice. Lift up Your hand in power and remind me that You do not forget the humble. Keep my heart contrite before You and let me walk in the assurance that You are my refuge. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
